I know you hear the questions in your head space
that lead to muttering loudly in your chair
but do you understand that we don’t hear them
perhaps, well just perhaps - they are not there.

I see your lips move soundlessly and wonder
just what it is you’re hearing. Is it good?
And can we share, providing  common answers
to questions we’d all answer if we could?

You turn away whenever I am speaking,
the questions that I ask must be too near
to all the things you’re hearing but denying
to all the thoughts  that keep you penned in here.

Why do give me answers where no questions
have been asked of you, by me, today?
Why do you wring your hands like counting rosaries?
And what is it - that you want me to say?

You cower in the corner. Is that usual?
What has you trembling like a dog in fear?
You answer all the questions from your headspace,
but what is it, oh what is it you hear?

Do you understand you ask the questions
unheard by us?  And we just want to help
Perhaps barbiturates will calm you sooner
A little prick that’s all, now don’t you yelp.

You mutter in your sleep about your father
and questions in your head give you away.
Though now you are asleep perhaps you’d rather
save all your questions for the coming day.

Here in this place where we are paid to listen
your answers and your questions are unheard
and no one cares that you’ll be here forever
your father’s paying well, my little bird.

Hi, Kethry!

You are a compassionate ~ and observant ~ giver of care. A doleful write that struck a strident chord in this reader.

Oh, oh oh.  This is very real, vivid, and hurtful.

Beloved one, Oh WOW, this is utterly spectacular, and I am not at all surprised it is going to be read on the radio, it should be heard all over the world, YOU should be heard all over the world. Yes, beloved one I know I am a little biased, but only a little this is one amazing piece. Can you not see that you have an outstanding gift, not just for writing but for caring with your words? YOU make those who have no voice heard.

Did I not say this was going to be your year? No, I am not omniscient I am just perspicacious. Although I swear anyone could have told you that this was going to be the year.
Love you always
and forever

Someone obviously does care... and that someone wrote an incredible poem! *S*

That was a very touching poem. Sincere, and thought provoking, full of compassion and humanity.
