I remember I remember
When as a child of three
My Dad would tell me stories
As I sat upon his knee
We talked of stars and milky ways
And teddy bears and things
And about the rain that falls
And the flowers that it brings
Then when the thunder roared
And frightened me in bed
He spoke to me so softly
And this is what he said

You must never be afraid
Of what you don’t understand
For God will always be here
To hold you by the hand
And though you may not see him
He will always be close by
To chase away the dark clouds
Whenever he hears you cry
For he made the sun and clouds
He made the thunder too
There is nothing to be afraid of
For he made them all for you

The thunder is the Lord’s way
Of bringing on the rain
For the trees and grass are thirsty
As are the flowers down the lane
The noise the thunder makes
Is just to warn you all
To fetch your umbrella
For the rain is about to fall
Then when the storm is over
And the sun comes out again
You’ll see nature at its best
All’s right in God’s domain

"We talked of stars and milky ways
And teddy bears and things
And about the rain that falls
And the flowers that it brings"

While not a religeous person I enjoyed this poem, the abvoe quoted lines reminded me of the following;

"The time has come," the Walrus said,
"To talk of many things:
Of shoes--and ships--and sealing-wax--
Of cabbages--and kings--
And why the sea is boiling hot--
And whether pigs have wings."

This pleases me greatly

Thus concludes my fairly aimless reply.

Thanks Ivor...

It's funny what pops in your head when you try to comfort your grandchildren... of the many things we talked about, this is one he remembers!

Hi Trisk...as for your "aimless"reply...I actually based this on that children's poem!
