Cavorting, tiny figures, romp in sylvan glens-
buried deep within the dells, alongside hidden fens.
Gaily, ring the tambourines; shrill, the little fife.
Woodwinds hum a melody; a lute gives subtle life.

Violins, with gliding bows, make frantic, strident singing.
Tiny drummers pound the beat, to set the woodlands ringing.
Faery couples, hand in hand, around the toadstools dance,
spreading magic moonbeam dust with every elven glance.

My love and I, at first alarmed, are quiet with rapt tension.
We snuggle close, amazed by all beyond our comprehension.
Mab is there, and Oberon, a host of folkdom's faeries.
The "little folk" of olden days, we know from early stories.

Suddenly, the music stops... the figures quickly frozen.
A wary, watchful guardian's eye has spied us in our 'cozen'.
At once, a spell is over us - we cannot lift a finger.
The faery dancers want to flee, are bidden yet to linger.

Once upon a "lover's moon" a faery wish is granted
to those whose love is truly TRUE - whose lives are nowhere slanted.
To us, that night, in love so pure, a simple thought came from them,
"You will love forevermore with faith and truth and passion."

We lie within the parted gorse, so filled with awe and glee,
time slips past on feathered wings, 'til dawning's break, we see.
Sun's first ray enfolds treetops, towering high above -
A sudden quiet stills the place... Now, nothing's left, but love.

We gaze upon a trampled ring left marked by tiny toes
and marvel in our musing minds, "how faeries cancel woes."

At first I was thinking of Ireland, but after a few lines I caught up with you. I like this write. It is so fun and romantic at the same time, sort of like those candy hearts with the little notes on them.
