Kyle

A man of quiet confidence
Was taken from this Earthly vale.
And though his time seemed far too sort,
His mark on Earth made others’ pale.
He had a head of common sense,
Yet youth still filled this now-grown boy,
With humor as his favorite sport;
The love of God his greatest joy.

And now it seems quite clear to see,
That once an age God’s angel dwells
Within the soul of one so young,
Where Heaven’s light so rightly tells
Of all the beauty soon to be,
If on the path we follow Kyle,
To shake our grief of bells not rung,
Then walk beside him for a while.

When such a man’s life touches those
Who need a guiding hand in life,
Where if his smile was Heaven sent
For those of us now mired in strife,
Then on the path with Kyle we chose
To find a way to God’s pure love,
If some of us seemed worn and bent,
We gained in strength from up above.

And all of us who saw Kyle’s ways,
Felt blessed to be one of his fans;
A humble soul with dreams to share
Of timeless love where Heaven spans.
A gentle man with thoughtful praise,
For all the love from God’s pure grace,
We miss his kindness, love and care,
But know he’s in a better place.

As Kyle is sadly laid to rest,
We say a prayer, then laugh with mirth.
It’s not a sign of callous youth;
We know that Kyle is not of Earth.
His body rests, but all the best
Awaits this man of joy and charms.
For Kyle is soaring, seeking truth,
Ablaze in Heaven’s outstretched arms.

And so, the dusk soon freights the day,
Then pulls the sun to other skies.
Yet as the darkness whelms the air,
A matchless beauty fills our eyes.
One newborn star now lights the way;
Our trail now clear through feckless night.
We follow Kyle without a care,
And walk the path of truth and right.

I prefer to be a dreamer among the humblest, with visions to be realized, than lord among those without dreams and desires. -Khalil Gibran

Indeed a touching write..and a beautiful tribute.

In the midst of winter,
I found there lives within me..
An invincible summer.

JL,

I type as goosebumps roam my body.  The tender love and respect that this tribute portrays is priceless, as, I am sure, was the friendship and love of this young man.

Historian as I try to be, I cannot help but wonder, what happened.  No need to answer at all, but I wonder what, and who, he left behind.  And if he left behind family of whatever reach, please give them my thoughts and let them know that Kyle is in our prayers.

And I hope that this poem will find its way into their hands.

Thanks, Shadows.

It was written for a young man who was taken far too soon.

Thanks, Nancy.

He was an incredible young man who touched so many people with his enthusiasm and love of life.  Only the good die young...or so it is said.

Hi, Sunshine.

I am glad that you liked my tribute.  He was quite a special young man.

Thanks for asking about Kyle.  He was hit by a car after a morning study session for a college class.  He and a friend were "stretching their legs" that morning on the side of a foggy road.  His friend narrowly missed being hit by the same car.  Kyle was studying to become a youth minister.

Kyle left behind multitudes of friends, his mom, with whom he lived after the divorce, and his dad, with whom he was good friends.  I have already passed along all of your good thoughts, as well as the good thoughts of others, and I have let them know that Kyle is in your prayers.

Also, rest assured that a copy of the poem is in his family's hands.  I have not heard back from them, but they understanably have a lot on their minds.

Hi, TNO.

That's awfully nice of you to say so.  And I, too, belive that you two would have been great friends.  Kyle was just that kind of guy.
