Five in the Morning

Silence.
Sudden intense awareness of every unheard sound.
Silence so loud I ache with the listening.
Every minute vibration – heard.
Alarm synapses poised, ready to fire.
I’m awake – 2:22 a.m..

Did I hear something?
A noise I shouldn’t have heard?
Something unusual in the middle of the night
that triggered an internal alarm - something
bringing me instantly to full, alert, consciousness – listening,
to silence so heavy even breathing is all but crushed
by it’s weight.

When I awake in the middle of the night,
for whatever unfathomable reason,
watching you sleep,
a misnomer since I can’t see you in the dark,
turns me into a raging, lustful beast
with an unquenchable hunger,
because if I awake you at this time of night,
you’re going to hurt me.

But in the silence, in the dark,
I know you’re there,
just beyond sight, and my body warms, burns,
yearning for full length, unclothed
flesh to flesh – contact.

I love you then,
more than I’ve ever loved anyone – or anything,
awake or asleep, in  this or any other, life. . .
but I know you’re going to hurt me – bad,
if I let my love awake you at 2:22a.m..

So I lay there yearning,
listening to the silence that awoke me,
to whatever brought me to full, alert, consciousness,
until finally, unknowingly, I fall to sleep, again . . .
dreamless, deep, Sleep,
just moments, ungodly short, moments,
before the nerve-rending, blasting, silence busting alarm clock
screams - Hey! It’s five-o’clock in the morning -  Time to wake up!

"because if I awake you at this time of night,
you’re going to hurt me."

I laughed when I read that...it's true though, you are awake and the other is still in this deep sleep and if you wake them up for that, you are toast....

enjoyed this!

A lustful interlude in the middle of the night sounds good to me! In the middle of last night I was sipping tea and eating a piece of Melba toast!

Enjoyed the read, Jim!

Warm hug 'n smile,

I DO love this!
made me laugh!

can't wake me in the middle of the night
for love nor money

not that anyone's ever tried money...

Even when one sleeps alone?
These very images
are shared...

and shared very well.

The curious thing is...

do you always wake on those numbered alignments as well?

2:22

3:33

4:44....

I do...and it is THAT that makes me wonder, WHAT?

Thanks, Jimmy!
