Ten Commandments of Growing Older

Keep my mind interesting…learn new things
Reap the rewards that knowledge brings

Let me be silent about pains and aches
And no whining for all our sakes!

Reach out to children, both young and old
They can touch a heart that’s now grown cold

Teach them your ways…then learn theirs
They can go far if someone cares

Don’t be immersed in yesterday’s ways
There are so many new things to brighten your days

To have a friend…you must really be one
Share their burdens… as well as fun

Don’t sit alone, mourning the past
You’re wasting a life that’s moving too fast

This world’s no longer familiar to us
Learn to adapt, without making a fuss

Shake off depression…when you’re feeling low
Accept that life changes…go with the flow

Life is an adventure, go out and explore
Or forever remain…a dinosaur!

Hi Sunshine...It's so sad to see all these old people in nursing homes who probably wouldn't have to be there if they just hadn't given up on life!

Why thank you Seymour...make sure you don't break any commandments!  Well...any big ones at least!

Brava!
Very well done, indeed

Well now, I think that this has to be a card or plaque that is given to everyone on their 65th birthday.  I personally am having lots of trouble with commandment #2, and the occasional  grunt or whine escapes me.

Nicely done, I printed it and put it on my fridge.

Bea,

A man's only as old as the woman he feels...

The moment created this second, is a  moment that's going to last.
It lives the full spectrum of time, the future, the present and past.

Seems like very good advice. Hard to do soemtimes, not living in the past. Thats my big one. It just seems better than now. Yes, you are totally right though, and I am working on that.
Nicely done.

Right on Sandra...I prefer it most of the time too, but we can't bring back the past so let's enjoy the present!

Rocking around your Zimmer  frame
It sure gives us a laugh
Even complications
When getting in the bath
Age is no decease my dear
It comes to one and all
The best sport is the guessing
Who will be first to fall
There’s plenty by the wayside
Grown old before their years
Then others like yourself.. of course
Who seem to have no fears
Enjoy the pleasure of your time
Now here’s a tip I know
It’s lovely while you feel so fine
But take it nice and slow…..
