Dreams, unlike eagles, often fly in pairs
Winding their way down the mind's countless stairs
To wearily reach their destination or task,
A well of ideas or some thoughts of the past.

One dreamer had an eagle to guide his soul,
Another a dragon for a goddess too bold;
Together, none could halt their endless tread
On immortal minds and poets long dead;

But the eagle-shape yearned to fly ever higher,
To lose the sounds of the flock's paltry choir,
To dare the threat of the Sun's searing deeds,
To plunge like Icarus among all fallen seeds.

The dragon-dreamer stood cold as winterstone,
Dreaming her dreams, as always alone.
Yet one still hopes again they will merge
However improbable, however absurd;

So the dreamer sits a prince among birds
Waiting for a poem from the Goddess of Words.

Poetry is just the evidence of life.
If your life is burning well, poetry is just the ash. "
