Lorelei has been on a tear this year with changing her lifestyle by dropping some pounds.  The poem says how many.  She has had quite a bit of success with Weight Watchers.  I wrote this poem as a tribute to her hard work and reaching a goal she once thought impossible.  Now that she is there, she is going even lower.  Simply amazing.

I’ve had a lot of work to do returning the groceries in this cart,
I’d been putting it off far too long before I made my start.
So it’s off to the Bakery section to put Pound cakes on display,
I’ll stock my five upon the shelf, they’ll be gone by Saturday.

It’s off to the Deli section  now, I have rounds of cheese to rack.
Three pounds of Cheddar, two pounds of Swiss, four of Pepperjack.
The Baking section is around the corner, it’ll be my next stop.
I’ve three 5-pound bags of sugar, from pure cane sugar crops.

My next stop is just down the aisle, three 10-pound bags of flour,
Enriched, bleached, presifted too, for baking by the hour.
Three 1-pound bags of chocolate chips go just across the aisle,
The customers passing by my cart and I return my happy smile.

The Freezer section is just ahead, I’ve pies and pastries for the shelf,
It’s five pounds for Marie, Sara Lee, Doughboy, and the Keebler Elfs.
Beverages is my last stop, my cart is much lighter than what I found,
The 10 pounds of Cokes and Pepsis are a relief to not push around.

I’ve been pushing this cart around too long with its heavy load,
This shelf stocking job is not as hard as I thought not long ago.
Seventy-seven pounds of groceries are now back where they belong,
It wasn’t as hard as I once thought, before I discovered that I was strong.

Carrying that many groceries all day can wear a person down,
I carried them constantly for several years without the cart I found.
The cart's waiting there for another customer, just outside your local mart.
It’ll carry the “groceries” you want to return, all you need to do is start.

Well first of all congratulations to her!  That is the way to do it, and once you get there just keep going until you feel you love yourself by what you see.  I stay away from anything 'white" and it sure works for me.

A wonderful tribute to your wife and again, sincere congratulations to her, it's hard work.

My congratulations to Lorelei, tell her to take a picture of her new svelte figure.
And I know you are in good shape by carrying all the groceries back. Enjoyed the read

If our dear Lorelei's shedding of weight
adds to the poems that you can relate
then let our Lorelei go full steam!
And allow all the rest of us our dreams!

~*~

Brava, Lorelei!  It seems that a vast
majority of my friends [including their
friend] are on a kick to kick over into
a healthier state.  I'm so glad you
encouraged our LJA to come in again and
allow your progress to be our encouragement!

to both of you!

Thanks so very much for those kind words.  It feels so strange living with a walking, talking, before-and-after picture girl.

If you wonder what it means to lose 75 pounds, the next time you're in a grocery store, pick up three 25 pound bags of dog food and lug them around for awhile.  I now understand why Lorelei was so tired many days.

Her success rubbed off on me, too - I'm down 35 pounds just tagging along behind her.

I seem to recall this name?...Hmmm?....and the style of poetry....and even the humor?
And Lorelie could have dropped another 220 pounds of useless fat if she would just leave you for me......

Hi ya scalawag! Great to see your fine sense of humor again...hope all is well....So?..Does it feel like you're sleeping with a different woman now?....

Congratulations Lorelei..know it's not an easy task doing what you've done...Takes alot of self discipline and motivation..(Of course, being married to that guy has given you alot of patience I'm sure)

You know Michael, I used to go walking with a friend who was heavier than I am, and she would always lag behind even though we did the same walk day in and day out.  I never understood why until she said one day, "You try carrying an extra 70 pounds up this hill and see how fast you can go!"  I never looked at it that way, and would never look at it that way ever again.

Again, congratulations to you and her, loosing weight is no easy task I am sure, as it requires a lifestyle change for good.

Nice to see you here, and also your crazy Toerag friend too.

LJ that is so wonderful... I don't carry that much extra but even if I gain a few I can feel it and being tired is so much a part of it. Congratulations to you both,  for Lorelei's  strength and determination and you for your support.
Have a happy, healthier New Year.

What a neat metaphor in your poem, and congrats to Lorelei.  I'm seriously considering WeightWatchers myself.

Lorelei congratulations! I know how hard it is to shed extra pound. Long John commiserations for the roasting you'll get now that you've posted this poem.

Having lost twice that much, I know what a long journey it is but also know how sweet it is to reach the end.  What a creative way to give tribute to Lorelei for a job well done.

I would wager that you and Lorelei have a very special Valentine's Day coming up!

Lots of lovin' sure beats the heck out of a big box of chocolates! Mind you, the sugar-free ones are still quite delectable!

I offer my congratulations to your wife on this fine achievement ~ and on your humorous account on how she did it!

Have a happy Valentine's Day!

Giving you a warm, welcome-back hug,

EA
