Look kid . . .
being a child
of only two
you’re just too young to understand

you’re blowing
my cover.

With my right hand
nonchalantly . . .
hidden from her,
watch the gesture of my finger:

she’s over there

around the corner. While I stand
big,
mean,
and perfectly still . . .
note:
the brow,
how it moves,
my armored eyes, where they go.

Your youthful mother,
that playful girl,
who loves you more than all the world
is over there.

See my head;
how it nods.

Aw Hell . . .
there’s a smile . . .

Now
she knows me too.

No matter what difference I might have with you or anyone else in opinions and discussion of such--if I read a poem I like, I like to say so.

I happen to think you are a fine poet.

And this is still delightful.
