In a state of limbo

I wish I had a love,
A vision in my eyes,
As graceful as a dove,
As peaceful as the skies.

It may not be you,
But you’ve left me blue,
I’ll keep on chasing the dream,
Even though there’s no use.
Through thick and thin,
You get under my skin,
Replenishing my essence,
By virtue of your existence.

On a cold winters day,
I look up at the sky,
I drive with the windows down,
Just to feel alive,
Put the pedal to the metal,
Gunning the gas,
“He’s surely gone mental”,
Say the people I pass,
I try to relax, but nothing gives,
It is all I can do to pretend that I live.

I may have your memory,
But I don’t have you,
It brings tears to my eyes,
I have no more love to lose,
Gave it all to a phantom,
Now I’m chasing it down,
Trying to get what I loaned away,
Sobbing without making a sound.

So here I am now,
Bitter and alone,
With a frown on my face,
Trapped in my home,
Under siege in my mind,
You had your part to play,
In this hell I have experienced,
But despite all the voices,
Yours remains silent.
