What a blessing it would be
For my poems to last through eternity
Like famous poets that we have read
Though these many years they've been dead

How sad it is to be like me
Who longs to set her poor heart free
With songs of love and passion bold
And words of wisdom to be told

Between my mind and my poor pen
Lies a chasm I cannot ken
For though I try with all my might
I just can't seem to get it right

I really try...I've read the rules
That students follow in the schools
Without my muse, I'm in the dark
I just don't seem to have that spark

But I won't give up...I will not fold
Just because I'm getting old
So look out world, I'm here to stay
I still have lots of things to say

Though a famous poet I'll never be
You'll still be hearing from Grandma Bea!

Thanks Raiders...the wisdom I (and my kids no doubt) will question.  The humor comes from sheer desperation.  I like to laugh at myself before anyone else does!

Wow Earth Angel...thank you so much. Don't mind at all if you "keep" it.  That's why I write them in the first place!

Many of us share the same yearn and hunger,
yet most will never reach the level of the
greats who preceded us....But it has been
fun, hasn't it?

Bea,

As a newbie to this site
it seems to me you've got it right,
between your mind and your poor pen
your muse has done you proud again!

I also think you know the rules,
your pen, one of your favorite tools,
with songs of love and passion bold
and wisdom waiting to unfold.

So maybe, I am here to stay,
if grandma's  got a lot to say.
For though you say you're getting old
your poetry shines through like gold.

Have Fun,

Ivor
