Post Back from 1999..

Dear friend, what hopeless sorrow do your bear?
Why does your heart cry so loudly?
What fills your life with emptiness?
Why are you trying not to care?

I see the scars of nightly falling tears,
I hear the roar of praying pleas
and in your whimpered, desolate eyes
I see a thousand days of fears.

The Island of Familiarity is home to most
but its border is a rocky shore.
To venture from its comfort bed
invites the terror of a deathly host.

Yet, leave this island home you must
to travel to a distant, far-off land.
Rescue now your hopes and dreams,
all else abandon to the blowing dust.

Sail valiantly on the Sea of Uncertainty
until you reach Tranquility's shores.
Leviathan and Tempest in frantic rage,
daily persue your ship of Insecurity.

Resist the lying promise of false friendly rest.
Blame and Anger, Embarrassment and Self Doubt
deceptively protrude, to tempt you to their naked tors.
They seek only to delay you in your quest.

Strong sails of Hope and light await your need,
Self Awareness and Self Confidence, to name but two.
These will guide you through the pounding sea.
Your success now assured with a greater speed.

Steer relentlessly, true, towards your only goal.
Safe landing on Fulfillment's golden, sun drenched shore.
Happiness runs to meet you crying "welcome home"!
Safe at last, embraced in Contentment's fold.

Poetry is just the evidence of life.
If your life is burning well, poetry is just the ash. "
Leon Cohen~

so so true, we fear traveling beyond our safety zone...yet, when we get there, sometimes it can be the most splendid of experiences....

Keep penning these encouraging messages...

Very well crafted...As Shakespeare himself put it "To thine own self be true". We must chart our own course and learn to love ourselves...how else can anyone else love us!
