Simple Things

Any day now
The World will change
And the distance between you and me
Will fold time and space
Until the wrinkles
Blur those Lines
You so firmly drew in the sand

And we weren't even children...

Juju

Who thinks really deep thoughts
What's so amazing about really deep thoughts " Silent all these Years, Tori Amos

I'm interpreting the thread starter as some form of "challenge".

If so, what's the challenge?

It's all coming back to me now. The last thing I remember being told is, "keep going until you reach the end of the circle".

Simple, yet soft and warm as sun-baked sand.

Sand...the original 'etch-a-sketch'.

(perhaps the 'challenge' was the poet's own to metaphorically relate her feelings in words.)

Hello. One of our late poets had a poetry challenge to write a poem about loving some one who not as smart as you. Essentially I wrote about the alienation of not being understood by the person you love. The terror of knowing where they come from, but they will never know you.

I don't recall the poet or the poem, but any union that equates love with intelligence is doomed in my opinion. If one is 'inferior' to the other and  admires the "other", that's one thing and I'm certain it happens all the time.

That "opposites attract" is better left to traditional gender distinctions and 'overnight sensations', not to the planting and cultivation of love.

In the challenge forum is where this challenge is. So my poem was not about me loving some one stupider then me, but rather the frustration of being in love with someone who feels above you. You can't control who you love or how they feel about you. Which is why I'm a poet and not a self help expert.
