A Day In March

Rain draws a drape that’s cold and gray
Across the window of the day.
A steady stream of drops are shed,
To pool within each flowerbed.
But later in the day, when I
Must venture forth, a lighter sky,
Shows promise of a bit of sun
Before this day in March is done.
Then suddenly I see some green,
Where daffodils have always been
The first to flower in the spring
And that changes everything!
My step is lighter as I view
This welcome sight. My heart is too!

Oh, Betty Lou, how lovely.  I can't wait to see flowers again.  I love finding the first blossoms of spring.  I'll have to wait to May or so, but I'll enjoy yours for now.

Thanks Alison.  I am not actually seeing flowers yet, but the foliage is there. Also just in this week so many spring birds are back. We are still getting snow showers however.

This truly lovely Betty.  I do have daffodils blooming in my yard but we haven't had much warm weather yet.  The tulip tour starts on April first but they are not in bloom yet.  Love, Joyce

Dear Betty Lou

Your spring is approaching and what a lovely poem to welcome it.

I so pray you'll be 'skipping' around soon!

Love Verbena xo

Dear Joyce:

Your area is so gorgeous in the spring. It's been a long time since I've seen it in person, but would love to do it again.

Verbena:

So nice to see your name here!  I don't see any signs of spring here yet, but hope it happens soon.

ah spring, always makes the heart lighter.  This year I saw giant snowdrops for the first time, I was so excited and happy.

Sweet read.

Wordancer:  Thanks for your nice comments. Unfortunately here, our "snowdrops" are the real thing and falling from the sky!! No sign of spring yet and is the latest ever for this area.

It's February now as I read this.  I am on the west coast, and the days have been drizzling, with only occasional sunshine.  However the rhodies are budding.  I probably won't see them until May, but I anticiapte the deep magenta blooms.  Luckily I get to enjoy my neighbor's daffodils earlier.  She like my roses.   ~ Tender shoots of spring and poetry.  Thank you. ~K

I'm not far from there.   Newport is a beautiful coastal spot, and I am mesmerized going through Yachats.  I don't know what it is about that place.... mystical.

Klassy Lassy:  I love the Oregon coast and often wish I lived there once more. I too think Yachats is a special place.

A pretty little note of spring.... Today is a very grey windy day here where I live, but spring is just around the corner!

Muted:  Thanks for reading and commenting. I am on the west coast near Seattle and it has been very hot here, but cooled some yesterday and is much more pleasant.
