The Aspen Grove

There is a golden wall, that glows,
Where a grove of aspen grows
And sheds their tears of leaves around
The roots that anchor them to ground.
The wind that moves them here and there,
Is wild and hungry, strips them bare
And leaves them standing naked to
The snow that soon comes blowing through.

Where once their beauty caught the eye,
It's easy now to pass them by.
Not noticing this shrouded wood.
Forgetting how their beauty stood
In other seasons of the year,
Entreating us to linger here,
Enjoying greening boughs and then,
Their splendor in the fall, again!

Very nicely written, and your work brings back memories once again.

One of the amazing things about all this to me is that such cold-trunked and branch-bare beings are not dead, but merely sleeping their off season away. With a smile, I can imagine the golden wall near - and of - the aspen trees, thanks to your lovely description here.

easy 1:  Thank you for reading and I appreciate your nice remarks. I enjoy the color of the aspens so much in the fall, but I'm glad they live here all year round.
