I'm wrangling rope on
a sheer angled slope.
Now digging in deeply with
both of my feet. Each one is
equipped with a heel fitted cleat.
Trying to catch a loop on
a treacherous hold, pulling myself
up through the mountainous cold.
Slowly I feel myself losing my grip,
I hope I don't stumble, or tumble, or slip.
There's a gap between ridges, and below
a ravine. The wind wails like a banshee, blasting
fiercely, and keen. The rocks slide,
and creak, but I'm close to the peak.
I call on the angels, and to God I dare speak.
Lord let me conquer this sudden incline.
Let me have your support, and please
throw me a line.

Life is meant to be enjoyed, not just endured.

And I bet he did?  There is nothing more exhilarating than a good climb.  Well done, I felt like I was right below  you.

A good read!

Well, having survived the "fright momenr" and given due whispered thanks to God. it's time to enjoy the view... also knowing you know the dodgy holds in advance of a safe descent.

ps. Hmmm, what rhymes with "summit"? "I brought a guitar and I'm going to strum it"?
