(3 golf course shorties)

Old duffer, old crone,
each with putting stick in hand,
walk slow to the cup.

***

Behind the 12th tee
I recall forests, gone now...
and I can't go back.

***

Smack! Save your wooden
clubs if you can. It's how golf
was meant to be played.

(lol, as the Scot may say, canna resist)

In the divot lay,
wretch. Aye, punch shot it will be.
Toy not wi' the brae.

That's not dew---it smells
too bad. Old starters sleep in,
but old sprinklers lurk.

Looking longingly
towards the clubhouse is a
sure sign of fatigue.

Some greens undulate;
others can't be mowed sidehill.
Approach in plain sight.

Green greens, green fairways,
green trees rounded and spiked, and
green rough a-plenty...

Green grass stains and dark mud, for
red ballwasher's soapy blood.

he went to play it again.

Such a joke to name them so
Nothing fair in golf.
