Daybreak

Night scoffs at the rising sun.
A blaze of fire states “I’ve won.”
The trees still clad in black display
Give way to light this wintry day;
Their silhouettes slice the changing sky
As the sun keeps climbing high.

Does Mother Nature ever sleep?
Or does she word-paint vision-keep?

Smiling down between her beams,
She sends the snow and frost that teams
Up with the artist’s brush of white
And tints the land a frosty sight.

Dear Barb:

This is lovely!  It certainly is a frosty sight here today and imagine it is there where you are too!

This is beautiful.  I think she comes to Alaska to sleep the winter away.  You wrote this so well.  Thank you for sharing it.

Winter tree silhouettes slicing the changing dawn sky as apparent beyond them to the poet's eye is a good enough imagery for praise! Thanks!

I don't think Mother Nature sleeps in this way, if moon and starlight, or town lights reflected from clouds beyond the trees is any indication.
