Dear Santa, I fear I've not always been good,
Nor minded my mama as well as I should.
But I didn't mean it and if you will come
I'll leave you some cookies, some milk and some gum.

I pulled the cat's tail till he jumped and meowed
And scratched my poor papa who hollered aloud.
He said I would get an old rock in my sock,
But Mama said, "Hush, you're reacting to shock."

She suggested that I should just write you a letter
And promise that I would try hard to be better.
I love you dear Santa and if you'll forgive
I'll carry the trash out, each day that I live.

Don't listen to Sister, who can't take a joke.
Can you bring her a doll for the one that I broke?
And please tell my daddy I need one more chance
And not to do as he threatened, to send me to France.

(Sung to the tune of "Away In A Manger")

Dearest Joyce,

You look like you were once a child full of mischief.  I see it in your pticture today.  I chuckled and then had to sing your song.  It worked beautifully.

Love and Merry Christmas,
Alison

PS  -  How was France?

Now why didn't I let him do just that?  Thanks Allison.  Love, Joyce

Joyce,
This is a heart warming poem, a poem of seasonal contrition for a gift-getting wind fall. I love the perspective it is written from, well done.

Enjoyed  it, Joyce ( and even had to sing it once or twice)
