        The Woman On The Side

Here is where he leaves his heart
& with him he takes my soul.As I'm
lying here with memories and nothing
else to hold.

The times we share are beautiful,
as we lay like man and wife. These
stolen moments are just a fraction
of what should be my life.

No one ever dreams of being the
woman on the side. Love was never
meant to be an emotion easy to hide.

You'll find it dancing in my eyes
and it's written on my face. With one
wish I'd stop the hands of time and
stay forever in that place.

Cause nothing feels as good as when
he holds me through the night. But
nothing feels as bad as when he leaves
before daylight.

As I hold on to memories of the love
we made. And all the nights he left when
he should have stayed.

I roll over to an empty spot where he
used to lay. My heart starts screaming,
begging, pleading just come home to stay.

A relationship so strong, but kept
hidden out of sight. Tell me, when did
love become the monster hidden in the
night?

He says with me he shares his dreams
and in them I'm his bride. But he walks
through life smiling big, a woman on each
side.

I'd say "I Do" but she would too & he
would have to choose. Win, win for him but
between us two someone would have to lose.

I tell myself just walk away & let these
feelings die. But I lay in bed when he's not
here and only want to cry.

What started out as simple lust, just
wanted to share a bed. Has lead to heartache,
anger and distrust, no love just hurt instead.

Beautifully worded expression of a painfully conflicted situation.  I hope that there is a release from this agony.  Better just one unhappy woman than two.

I guess one would have to decide, is the misery more than its worth. I hope you are only writing a very emotional poem and are not in that situation.  I felt the emotion and torment.  Love, Joyce
