Having learned a thousand times before
My feet were meant to stay on the floor
There's really no excuse for why
I still keep trying so hard to fly

Yet once again my wings spread wide
The senses reel as I ride the tide
Of rising hot air, like a bird that soars
Looping and winding, hear the wind roar.

Time is passing, how will I land?
Perhaps like a kite, touching down on the sand
Perhaps like a rock kicked off a bridge
like an avalanche from a snow covered ridge.

Thoughts of landing infest me with fear
Glancing down the earth gets near
With a thundering crash I hit the ground
Sheets blankets and pillows scattered around.

This poem made me smile, as I often dream I am flying. So far, I have never dreamed I was landing!! Much harder I'm sure!

I can relate to this poem so well, I like the way you tell the story and provide a suprise at the end.  I have often dreamt of flying, it feels so good in dreams to soar with such ease and grace.  I enjoyed your adventure through your writing...Write On!

Such a lovely poem.
I too dream of flying, as do many others.
But ah yes, it's in the landing, however it may be.
Loved it, thanks.

I'm not much of a flyer; that is why I do not dream of flying.

I liked your poem though.

Those dreams are the best! Well done, you can almost feel the ending coming by the sing song way you write the first lines.
