The Bone Yard of Poetry

I opened up a file where bones
And intermittent sighs and moans,
Announced the resting place of all
Unfinished poems and sent a call
To take them out and then complete
Every one, a major feat!
I decided that I would try.
Many were poor and made me cry,
But others seemed to have some merit.
I picked one out so I could share it.
I read it over and despaired
That it could ever be repaired!

I thought about it day and night.
It never sounded just quite right.
I read it to a neighbor, who,
Laughed so hard her face turned blue!
So to protect the population,
I will refrain from publication!

Boy! Can I relate to this. I have some that are so bad that I quickly destroyed them so if I died, no one would ever find them.
So glad you shared all of the good ones with us! (I can't imagine a bad one from you)
love, Barb

Dear Barb:  Thank you for thinking I've only published "good" poetry!  some of my old ones are pathetic.  I have thrown a few of them in the fire!

Cheechako:  Thanks for your response! I'll bet there are hundreds of poets who have a "boneyard of poetry". We seldom talk about it though!

Welcome to the site, as I see this is your first post. Thanks for making it one of mine!!  Will watch for yours.

Okay, I smiled
then I vowed to go through my files
and see what I can salvage out of chaos of words!
