The Shifting Tides

Through gardens tangled now by time,
I seem to hear the fragile chime
Of temple bells that toll away
The minutes, hours, of each day.
I stand and watch the shifting tide
Now on the ebb and with it ride
My thoughts of past years, you and I,
Sailed beneath a tropic sky.
Out where just wind and water rule
And every star's a flashing jewel!

Sometimes, we'd go on deck to lie
And watch night hours hurry by,
To see the sun rise from the sea
And listen to the symphony
Of water sounds and lines that sing.
Of creaking timbers, salty fling
Of brine upon our sun-tanned skin.
The memories begin to thin
And fade away until once more,
I realize I'm on the shore.

Now where are you? What mystic place
Conceals your presence and your face?
From out the mist that drifts to me,
I hear you speaking poetry!

BettyLouBettyLou~
This is the most lovely read-aloud piece~
What lovely thoughts seem to sail along~
It reflects the silence of silence-in-tow that sailing brings to me~

I have sooooo enjoyed this piece ... you glow~

*sigh* ... just so very pretty~
