Show and Tell

My parents both had poet souls,
All though they didn't know it.
They firmly believed the poet's rule
"You do not tell, you show it."

They worked so hard for us each day;
Took us to church on Sunday.
The lessons they encountered there,
Were not forgotten Monday.

They did not believe in punishment,
Except to let us see
How sad it made them feel if we
Weren't as good as we could be.

My mama and my papa
With their love that over-flowed,
Were the special kind of parents
Who not only told, but showed.

This is really nice, Joyce. People like your parents are a blessings to so many even past their own children and that blessings just keeps keeping on.

Dear Joyce:  You were so fortunate to have parents like this! How proud they would be of you today!

Joyce
you were so lucky to have such stable parents.  Some people are angry at their parents and you are in a good loving place.  You were indeed blessed.  Thank you for sharing this poem

Hugs Kimberly

I feel guilty reading your poem - sometimes, we do forget that what values we carry into our adulthood we owe these all to our parents - and so few poems remember to honor them. They must be really proud for you to be writing about them.

Thanks for the thought.

Joyce,

I love how you let us look into the window of your life and get to know your Mama and Papa just a little.  They were wise parents.
