Camelot

Fairy tales don't last forever,
A lesson all must learn.
There comes a day, they slip away
To the Land of No Return.

In that unforgotten summer,
I found my own White Knight;
But like all things too good to last,
He vanished from my sight.

Our Nation had its Camelot
In Nineteen Sixty-Two.
The curtain parted slightly,
My own White Knight slipped through.

Next year the whitest Knight of all
Upon his iron horse
Was slaughtered by a fiendish hand.
Our nation went off course.

Was it the act of one mad man
Or an ugly, evil plot?
Our Nation lost its Destiny
And our lovely Camelot.

Joyce~
You draw me gently into your Camelot
with tearful remembers of my own~

Yours is of such tremendous loss in '62
and all of us are far too aware of the loss of '63~

Sending you bunches of *HUGLETS*

This is wonderful Joyce..
indeed we did have our Camelot.

"Don't let it be forgot
That once there was a spot
For one brief shining moment that was known
As Camelot."

ah...Camelot that faire land

…and how could I resist a poem titled so

I like how you tied the wide historical view together with the personal.

Ink runs from the corners of my mouth
There is no happiness like mine.
I have been eating poetry.
