The Last Door.

Arms clamber round your neck
My fingers biting tender skin
Hollow breath smarts against your cheek
Lips plea to let me in

Tears sweep down swollen curves
Of face carved in bitter hate
Nails claw a silent retreat
Of long predicted fate

Your eyes a pool of silence
Filled with worn out pain
Lashes shield a stain of past
Marked with years of fallen rain

My warm hand reaches out to find
Your scarred and lonely own
I entwine my golden fingers
With yours bitten to the bone

I tilt your chin up to the light
Silvered beam moves down upon
A face marked with too long a sadness
As bitter as unbroken dawn

I help you clamber to your feet
Your limbs a knot of anguish great
You body uncurls from its frozen shell
To meets its long awaited fate

We step onto the golden path
Paved with worn out light
Look up into those rolling clouds
To a stairway of gladly sight

You look down to me
Your eyes hold empty hope
And I hold your opened hand
As you let go of that last rope

And together, into clouds of dreams
We stride away from tears that wept
And that is the day you left with me
The day, into heaven we took that step

Thanks for reading. =]
