Somewhere in the distance
A light shines tonight
It’s shinning for the innocent
For those who stand to fight

He taught me to be strong
To stand up on my own
He listened to me cry
When I called him on the phone

I ache when he’s not with me
And I bleed when he is hurt
I fall apart when he’s broken
I sleep with his shirt

It looks like you’re all ready
And there’s nothing left to pack
It’s time for you to leave
And there can be no looking back

A tear falls down from my cheek
As I turn to say goodbye
You’ll be gone for three months
So I can’t help but cry

Baby I really love you
So I won’t ask you to stay
Your dreams are finally here
And it’s time to go today

But somewhere in the distance
My love for you is burned
There is a light beyond the darkness
And there are lessons to be learned
