I’m sorry I never whispered those words
fearing my ears would only catch
the soft breeze as it sailed in the moonlight.
That only an owl high in his mighty nest
would cry to his prey,
taunting him with a sweet lullaby.

I’m sorry I never held on,
fearing my arms would grow tired
carrying the weight of a troubled heart.
That they would fall
and sink in an ocean of tears
never to hold another again.

I thought I feared nothing,
till I imagined my life without you.
