Okay so it sucks and its prob some of my worst work but anyway...

Another Day Another Innocent
_______________________________

I’ve walked this earth on a rainy day
I’ve been lost and somehow found my way
I’ve cried real tears and felt there pain
I’ve seen this world grow insane

A girl with a knife trying to escape the dark
A young man homeless in the local park
Shattered glassand a man behind bars
An innocent child stealing cars

Each person has a story but there too tired to find their way
After all their just another person that you’ll ignore today

She’s tired and she’s broken
She’s done fighting this war
Her mother and father dead
She can’t take it anymore
The knife is just a way out
Of the darkness she feels most
Another scar another day
She’s done playing their host

He’s only 17 you know
But he’s homeless on the streets
His clothes are tattered and torn
His only blankets are silk sheets
He gives all his money to his mum
So she can fight for her life
The treatment may cost him all his money
But he’ll save his father’s wife

Ben’s never been innocent
But at least he’s trying hard
He won’t get to write to his daughter now
His pen was confiscated by the guard
He is just 26 years of age
His daughter watched him go to jail
He assaulted a police officer
Nobody posted his bail

Darren is only 15
His mum and sister live at home
His father up and left them
Left his only son alone
He never wanted it to be like this
But his family had no money
Now he’s running from the police again
But this time it isn’t funny.

Every civilian has a story but we never stop to care
We just walk right on past because life wasn’t made to be fair
All these people are struggling because they don’t see the light
They gave up just for a little while until they learn what’s right
You don’t have to be a millionaire in this world to be admired
Just open up your hearts to the people who get tired

Wow Jess, this is one of the truest poems I have ever read. Funny how blind we are isn't it? This is amazing, great job.

This is incredible. SOME of the fourth stanza relates to me, and its so true. I love this poem, its amazing. But there are so many better words out there that I can't think of, library.

"This lullaby is only a few words
A simple run of chords
Quiet here in this spare room
But only you can hear it, hear it..."

Wow, this holds so much truth. I love how your poems always manage to strike a chord in me.

There is power in the pen.
