i take it off at night and put it during the day
cover my face in a mask & its my way
of being able to stay strong
its probably somewhat wrong
but its easier to hide then to face your fears
it prevents all the moments with pain & tears

i'm learning how to trust & how to let go
& that in some moments its better not to know
its a process to say the least but i'm trying
even though some days are tough its better than lying
one day i'll walk around without a mask on my face
& hope that my true self is what people will be able to embrace

because its hard to start over and forget your past
yet i must say peices of the mask are falling off pretty fast
the problem is i'm not sure if i can keep anything that i once knew
because when i see the past my world does nothing but turn an awful blue
flashing back every horrible memory i created
me wishing i could cover then with a lid

but its time to face my fears & let everyone know that my past is what's made me
& that my life is more difficult than most and being me is something they could never be
without breaking down or at least falling apart
so when you critcize me know you can't damage my heart
its stronger than most so when you think that my heart needs a nurse
just remember your best day could never beat my worse
