ok, i feel i should state my case and VP here. i do not believe that homosexuality is jsut another way of life, i think its wrong and a serious sin. but i do accept them, and have no problem with homosexuals. this is where this poem comes in. its kinda old, but this christian friend i have was rejecting this gay friend that we both have, because "of his religion" and i got so mad bc umm hello!!!!! God loves everyone including homosexuals and he was treating and preaching the wrong thing to our friend. so yea i was ticked off at him. then i showed him this and a whole mess of bible verses to show that he was wrong, and he got mad at me cuz hes a senior...lol and im not..way younger. so he was ticked that he got demoted by a younger GIRL too. so n e ways. i have no problem with the people, homosexuality does not freak me, but i do not stand up for their rights to like marry..cuz, i believe it wrong. so yea. hpe u guys like

We are God's creation
No matter what we do
Homosexuals and their sins are
Exactly the same as me or you
God said that it's wrong
But lying is also a sin
Both are abominations
And both are equal to Him
No sin's greater than another
Says the Lord above
All people are God's children
Whom He commanded us to love
You can't jsut label them off
As things to be rejected
Since no one is perfect and we're equal
Then no one should be accepted
Our theme verse is "Love one another
As I have loved you"
But you're jsut pushing them away
That kindlove ain't true
People think it's right
to shun their kind
But God has open arms for them
People are so blind
Do you think that God would reject those kids
Because of what they do?
He hates the sin, but He loves them
As much as He loves you
Some people are born with it
Some people convert
Either way christians these days
Are just causing them to hurt
With God all things are possible
So it's possible to change
But some sins you struggle with forever
God understands that most of the time
We stay the same
If He doesn't know that
Then we don't have to worry
Because He's not God
and He isn't holy
He's expecting too much
From an imperfect race
And we'll never be good enough
To see His face
So treat your friends with love
Despite all their wrongs
Cause God does that for you
Cause no one is perfect or that strong
When a christian tells you one thing
Back it up with Truth
Otherwise you'll just be preaching lies
Corrupting young lives, making them think like you.

only a vampire can love you forever.

I think that your very wise for your age especially because of your religion you are one of the few people who really know how to follow the true meaning of the word of god (I am not religious)per say but I think you saying you accept gay's is quite a mature action. nice write.

Oh, wow, I loved this! I have the same beliefs about homosexuality (I mean, I'm Catholic, for goodness' sake) but I feel horrible that people are always making fun of and rejecting gays. Going in my library. Excellent poem.

how can you say you stand up for them but believe it's wrong for them to marry? You contradict yourself. They can have some rights, but not all of them? You need to rethink that, rethink what you said before the poem...you are saying I don't agree with them, I think what they are doing is a serious sin, but God loves everyone? Make up your mind. It's either a sin or God loves them....you can't have it both ways...it's like you are saying it's a sin but that is ok....???huh??? You sound like a politician....think about it.

Read the poem ... it's okay, but I'll have to join in with SEA on what I think of your disclaimer~
How do you get to CHOOSE which 'rights' they have ?

When Jesus came upon those about to stone the prostitute, He said, "You, who are without sin, cast the first stone."  In other words, we all have sinned.

That is what I see in this situation.  Jesus didn't deny the prostitute's sin, or change His mind about it, but he loved the prostitute, telling her, "Go and sin no more."

What chance would she have to repent if she were stoned to death?  Why did those ready to stone her, feel they had the right to, since they, too, were sinners?  Most parents love their children while hating the sin the child commits.

That's my 2 cents worth.

God can love the sinner, yet hate the sin (which is more than i can say for humans... we're so judgemental) thanx fer the awsome poem leah, you are so awsome! i deffinately agree with all of it. we should accept everyone, fer who they are, not what they do or choose.

I agree.. with some points in this poem... like no one should have to be scared about being who they are and having those feelings.. I was reading a christian teen magazine a while ago and it said that gay people were wrong and it is their fault they are gay.. well hello no one wants to be gay and different from other people.. I was very mad at the magazine!! who are they to say what is right and wrong. I don't see why it is wrong anyway.. its not harming anyone so it shouln't matter.. I do think they should be allowed to marry thought and have the same couples rights and stuff like everyone else....

krysti, christians dont decide what is right and wrong, we read it in the bible. and it specifically says not to lay with a man as with a woman(speaking to the man) and other various places where god says he despises it. i mean think about it...it causes sicknesses, diseases, stds, y would something good do that? god created sex for a man and a woman, thats y everything...like works...physically...u know? when two ppl of the same gender and have sex...theres complications and they have to make do with other things...why? because they werent meant and made to be hving sex together. and soem ppl do choose to be gay. its kinda weird but some ppl want the best of both worlds or feel like being rebellious. and u can only b rebellious if ur doing something wrong right? i do believe that homoesexuality is wrong, but these ppl are my friends. i love them. they are no different from me in any way. i sin just like them. god loves them just like he loves me. were commanded to love one another as christ loved us (john 15:34-35 i think) so i wont bag on them. i wont hate. but i will point out their mistakes just like my friends tell me i shouldnt lie or something. if they choose not to change or stop, then its on them, but im still going to love them. i refuse to treat them any different than anyone. and those are my thughts on it, and they are based on the bible, and since i believe that the bible is perfectly right ( i mean no  ones€ been able to disprove it yet after like wut ? 2000 yrs?) then i am pretty confident that most of my beliefs are correct too. but if not, then i hope god corrects me of it.

Okay guys were off track here.. aint we all supposed to be commenting on how good Leah's work is,.. It is good Hugs too u Leah.. I think we all have a right to freedom of speach own opinion etc etc.. Some who believe some who don't.. Our opinions are unique and that of our OWN.. you don not have to agree with peoples opinions  so tearing down their opinion is just jading what they believe in.. This isn't a match where somebody wins it is a religion, a belief and most of all a freedom of speech.. what we believe in will be different to the nxt person, person after that.. so don't go giving Leah a hard time about her opinion when its what she knows and what she has faith in. Nobody deserves to have their faith stripped from them..

RevengeIsMine,

I didn't say she had to agree with me. But with your soap box preaching you forget I don't have to agree with her either.

I personally think it's great that you kids are exploring religion and having your OWN thoughts and opinions on it. It's not supposed to be a fight, she was sharing her views on the subject, I don't agree with some of the things she said. Big Whoop...you sound like the only one getting offended.

Chill out....it's all fine. She isn't trying to force her opinion on me, and I'm not either. She said GOD HATED. I just wondered if he is perfect why does she think he hates? He isn't human...I was asking a question. If you don't like that then maybe you should think about WHY that bothers you that I would have MY OWN opinion and think my OWN thoughts.

Liking someones poem and the actual thoughts contained in the poem is not a requirement here. I am allowed to say I do not agree with her. She is more than welcome to not agree with me too, I honestly do not care one whit.

here guys think about this.

if God is almighty, then could he make an unmovable boulder?

because if the boulder is unmovable, then God wouldnt be able to move it.

and if he could move it, then the boulder wouldnt be unmovable, which would mean God wasnt almighty.

yesss i agree the bible says it is wrong hunn.. butt if yooh think about it... who writes the bibles...? Christians do... and how do yooh know that whoever wrote the bible didnt just have their own opinion and decided to add it in.. I honestly think if if someone had the power to write the words that were said to himm by whoever(God?) then they could and most definately take advantage of that and see how far he can make people believe....?? (MY OPINION) and yess it is true that sex was made for a man and a woman it fits that way.. but then,, here the bible goes and tells us to marry for love not just for a good lay over once in awhile so therefore...... it's kind of contradictory 'cos the bible says it wrong for gay people... even though they are in it for love not sex....? hmm so many things involved in this you bring something up and it conflicts with another point...

clocky:yes of course God could make and unmovable boulder ( to us tho, bc hello nothin is un-anything for god. nothing is impossible for him) but god can do n e thing. he is on a different level than us so what is unmovable to us is movable to him. we cant compare him on that level bc ...well hes not on our level. lol he is almighty, which is why a lot of times its hard to comprenhend some things, but its really not practical to put in him a box like that since...hes on a differnet level lol. it says in the bible that if u have enough faith, he could empower us to move mountains. now im pretty sure that a mountain is umovable...to us. but god could move it. either by jsut doing it, or by force of nature such as earthquake or sumthin. and if need came and we had faith he could empower us to move mts as well. would he do it though? i think not, bc there is obviously ppl and animals on the mountain and they would probably die and stuff but who knows maybe someday someone will move a mt according to gods plan

krysti i love u girl!..but it says in 1timothy 3:16 " all scripture is inspired by god and is profitable for doctrine, reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of god be complete thoroghly equipped for every good work. and i think that even if the words of the bible were nto spoken to the authors (which btw are over 40 who all consectutively wrote together never contradicting each other over a period of like 300 yrs) that god would choose godly people to write it, people who wouldnt be so decieving. and i also think that if there was something to be proven wrong in the bible or that someone had figured out that an author had added their own opinions, then ppl would have stopped believing and reading it a long time ago( cuz..yea the bible is really old like 2000 yrs ish and its all over the world i do not think that the world is that stupid to not figure out after all this time that someone screwed up in writing it) and no where in the bible does it say to marry for love. but if u can find where it does, i will certainly apologize and difinately change my mindset, but i am almost 100% that absolutely no where in the bible does it say to marry for love.

I don't have to agree with your thoughts, but I do respect them. I am glad to see kids having an open discussion about God. I think all kinds of things, and don't like to get into it too deep, unless we were face to face and had time to really talk...not like preach, but to talk and think what if this and what if that...I think it's healthy to question things...and to have faith.

thats a common anser to my question is that its movable, but to humans. but i didnt mention humans at all. humans are irrelevent to this question. and the bible is awesome and all...but it was written by man, so its hard to take completly seriously. (in my oppinion)

this is getting into a deep discussion I was wondering if you alll would mind me moving this conversation to the discussion forums..

quote:
did u not like it bc of the subject? or was the poem kind bad?

Partly the subject but that’s only because of the  way  you decided to present the poem, you’ve almost guaranteed to alienate any reader who questions the statements you present as fact. You could have avoided that alienation by writing in a different perspective or even simply injecting a little doubt.

Confused?

Try this example:

Ducks are the brightest vivid green
With fur upon there back
They all wear tiny stethoscopes
That’s why they like to quack

This is a statement of purported fact - that my opinion is that ducks are all green, have fur on their back and wear stethoscopes. Any reader judging the accuracy of this statement would rate it pretty low - they just plain wouldn’t agree with it.

Some people think that ducks are green
With fur upon there back
That they all wear small stethoscopes
Which makes them like to quack

This is a statement of purported fact - that there are people who believe that ducks are all green, have fur on their back and wear stethoscopes. Anyone reading this is judging whether some people would believe this, not whether ducks are actually green.

If ducks were the brightest green
With fur upon there back
And they all wore small stethoscopes
Would that be why quack

This isn’t a statement of fact at all, the reader is simply posed a question. Anyone reading this is given the choice to decide what the answer is not forced to accept whatever answer you prefer.

That’s not to say that the way you presented it was wrong, it’s just my opinion that it wasn’t the best way to do it.

As to whether the structure and application of the poem was bad well that question is relative. It’s relative to who you are and where you are in terms of writing ability, if you’re the next American poet laureate then this poem is truly atrocious, if you’re a teenager just starting to write then it’s ok maybe even a good attempt, it could eve be an excellent attempt. It’s also relative to my taste in poetry, if I don’t like sonnets then even the best sonnet in the world isn’t likely to float my boat.

Just because I don’t like it doesn’t mean it doesn’t have merit, it doesn’t mean it’s bad, it just means I didn’t like it.

I'm sorry but I'm going to have to say I didn't like the way you wrote your poem and I definitely thought there didn't need to be a disclaimer because that is what started the out of control board. A poem should be able to stand on it's own words rather then have a disclaimer

clocky:humans cant be irrelevent bc we are nothing w/o him. i understand the whole written by humans thing, but it was inspired and it never contradicts itself 9even tho its written over a 40 yr period, on 3 continents, in 2 languages by over 40 different authors.) so i believe it.besides no science or geographical or historical discovery has ever disproved it

kyrsti: exactly...u wouldnt...but it says its not right to marry someone of ur own sex or to have intercourse w/ them. so its wrong. but god still loves them and so do i

grinch: thanx i get it. i do like the way i wrote this tho, bc i believe that wut i wrote is fact. but thanks ill remember this for l8r

surfpainter: sry u didnt like it. and sry for the disclaimer but i wanted u all to know my thougths behind my writing.

Revenge, re:  "Our opinions are unique and that of our OWN.."  Well, uh, actually our opinions are not unique, and they are not made up out of whole cloth.

I'm not precisely sure when we cease being a tabula rasa -- "a mind not yet affected by experiences, impressions, etc." -- but certainly, by the time we understand language, we are shaped by just about every notion, experience, and impression we come into contact with.  This is not a positive or negative statement, it just has a "suchness" about it.  We may have a "nature" in the sense of predispositions and abilities, but we are shaped by nurture.

well im gay and i think that this poem is a very different perspective of how im use to people seeing gays and relgion , i respect the fact that you think its wrong but that you think god still loves us or so thats what i got from this poem , personally i think that "god" loves us just like everyone else and dosnt have a problem with our sexuality , if he did why would he have made us this way ?? either way i thought this was a nice poem , its kinda funny i came across it because latly iv been really wondering about this topic and if god excepts gay people and all that , guess il find out when i die lol

Think how nonsensical it would be to call people "heteroracials" and "homoracials" for being involved with people of the same race or people of a different race.  Well, that is how nonsensical it is to call people heterosexuals and homosexuals. I recommend avoiding such useless terminology.  Any two people that intimately love each other deserve to be respected as lovers, soulmates, partners, and respectfully referred to with non-sexist and nonracist terms.  Not called "homosexuals/heterosexuals" (including synonyms such as "gay/straight") or "homoracials/heteroracials", as if they and their relationship revolve around their sex/sexuality or their race.

ESS:  Very pertinent comment.  I get the feeling (based on a slightly notorious very old post) that you have been modifying your stance over time.  If we keep on moving towards agreement, I'm liable to start a reiteration of the novel "Grendel" in middling English...

Bloodfairy:  This discussion is going on in two forums.  I respond in P101.

I wasn't trying to have a go at anyone with my comments and i'm truely sorry if it come across that way.. I just wanted to state i don't think gay people are any different to all of us, i'm not a christian, but i do believe in god. I respect Leah's opinion just like i respect everyone elses.  i don't have to agree with what leah says but i'm not going to make it the new topic of world war three

Great poem!
I agree with most everything that has been said and have a few comments.

Sea: We are Gods children. He sent us here to learn, to grow and become more like him. Sining takes us away from him, hurts others as well as ourselves and is generaly unpleasant. God loves us, God LOVES us more than we can possibly imagine. Thus he is vehemently opposed to sin.
He hates it as you would hate your four year old playing on the freeway. It is a hate bourne of love, an opposition to the perminate harm that comes from sin, and he uses the strong word of HATE to show us just how serious he is.

Bloodfairy: I have cerebral palsy, I know people with mental disabilitys, and those who are in these kind of situations struggle every day. I count myself lucky that I do not struggle more.
Why you might ask would God make me this way, or you that way? It is to test us, make us better through determined self mastery. To prove that we can rise above all things! I don't realy know why but I know that it will be right, and I plan to stay away from sin and depression!
