XYZ

X is the cross that I carry around.
It stands for the strength and the pain that I’ve found.
Y is the guilt that has left me for blind.
More than half of my life, left to rewind.
Z is the lie I halfheartedly regret.
The part of me I can never forget.

X is the variable, the last one to explain.
It’s the unanswered things that drive me insane.
Y is the question, so simple and tamed.
So why is it, the answer’s unnamed?
Z is the legend, a story grown old.
Just one more mystery, a story untold.

X is my body, carrying the cross.
Dragging the chains of treasures I’ve lost.
Y is my mind, bearing the guilt.
Trying to solve, the problems I’ve built.
Z is my heart, harboring the lies.
Pulsing violently, beneath the disguise.

I am the variable, nothing to explain.
Everything answered, except the insane.
I am the question, too simple and tamed.
Nothing in life can remain unnamed.
I am the myth, just a story too old.
Just another mystery, a tale left untold.
