To Say Goodbye

Life started sweet and simple
Things were different then
It took all your faithful attention
To get me to even be your friend

I thought you would always be
The simple child you were
Surprise has finally won the score
The past seems but a blur

You changed into something carnal
Something I just can’t ignore
You’ve changed your tune and song and now
I know the final score

I’ve tried to say goodbye
More times than one girl should
But every conversation ended
In the trees of my mind’s wood

The words that play around
Only running in my mind
I’ve stopped trying to play your part
So I only now hear mine

So I’ll say it a little louder
Maybe loud enough to hear
That goodbye means goodbye this time
So I’m sorry, but goodbye dear

"I have no other but a woman's reason:
I think him so, because I think him so."
