i wrote this for a poetry contest on a different site. The topic was "a place" and so this is what i came up with. comments and critics are much appreciated.

A Horror in My Mind

I blink, clear my vision
Fall asleep, then wake up
Blinking, blurring
In pain my head erupts

I see him passing
To hurt or Protect me?
Changing, rearranging
Brings me to me knee

I cannot stay
Need to go, need to leave
Gaping, gasping
I can’t seem to breathe

I hear each foot
Fall steady, fall true
Racing, running
But from who?

I see each face
As I pass their eyes
Cold, deadly
Hiding in lies

I push myself
One more step, one leap
Falling, face down
I feel blood seep

My clothes tarnished
They rip and tear
Disintegrate, detach
Leaving me bare

Now in a different place
Black clothes, black heart
Spinning, swirling
From consciousness depart

Alone in an alley
A new path, or route?
Crawling, crying
How do I get out?

Im awake in my sleep
Rest I cannot find
Nighttime, nightmare
A horror in my mind

some parts are...chaotic, i guess, but they are supposed to be. A lot of nightmares dont make sense.
