He raised the walls around your heart
So tonight I'll build a ladder
I never knew there'd be distance between us
What I've done cannot be repeated
I've got scars I'm willing to show you
You had a heart I'll never see
You had answers to all the wrong questions
It's funny, these answers are all I need

In the shadow of these walls
I crouch down for shelter
It's crazy, the dreams we made in the sky
So picture me drowning,
Pretending I'm happy
We end up regretting the things we don't try

Here with my problems
I don't need the light
They're bigger than darkness and darker than night
I leave on a promise of something that shines
Perfection isn't always perfect
Emptiness I will find
I find this all the time

Carry me softly
Cover it up, so the pain doesn't show
Speak to me sweetly
Don't let me down, because I can't let go

-Love is a promise delivered already broken-
