The World

I’m told this is a world
Where the strong control the weak
Where the green that you have made
Makes you what the payers seek

A world of men and pleasures boundless
Where the love is taken out
A place void of love and virtue
A world of endless doubt

And could you, pray tell
Remember the lines
Which they have written
For you at this time

This world, the one I breathe in
Is a breeding ground
For the heartless
Or, so I’ve heard around

If there is hope
(And truly there must be)
I want a piece
For you and for me

For there’s nothing worse
Than the discovery (in this world)
Of the lonely discovery
Of heartbreaks unfold
