The Nature of Names

Life is so ironic
The first book I read holds my name
The third book yours
The character of me is cruel and heartless
Yours an angelic and amazing man

Funny how that works
Such an ironic twist
Makes me wonder if the book speaks true
I’m the witch and you the prince
But then I remember life

My name such a sweet and untainted one
Now ruined by the words of a storyteller
Yours a mix of bad and worst
Now made that of an honored one
Irony was never kind I suppose

Books so filled with irony
I laugh a maddening laugh ‘til I cry
I feel like the world’s personal joke
Though no ones here to see me
While I’m here- in a hysterical fit

But I’ll laugh again someday
Because you know I remember
Remember what life is really like
How the scene really played
I the victim and you the predator

You killed my soul for weeks
I gave you all I had for months
No book could rewrite that
So maybe I’ll brush it off
And remember the nature of names

If love were a picture that painting would never be finished.
