on the side of the road,
a young man is sitting on the curb.

his hair is long and knotted,
his smile not so white.
his over coat is battered,
and he never speaks his mind.

he just sits on his curb,
watching the men in suits talk on thier phones.
with the angery words of politics,
it makes him glad hes not a drone.

he has no worldly possesions,
just his dirty clothes and his old guitar.

its an old harmony guitar,
with surprisingly no missing strings.
he always keeps it in tune.
he always lets it ring.

he doesnt want your pity,
he just wants your change.
so that he can change his strings,
if one may just break.

he doesnt mind your stares,
because hes not ashamed of who he is.
he knows he is poor and homeless,
he knows he has no kids.
but it hurts him the most,
when you forget that he lives and breathes.
when you think your better than him,
because you have somewhere to sleep.

now its not right and its not fair
the way these things pan out.
but dont forget that all people feel,
even though you may have doubts.

I have no doubts that all things living feel...everyone should try to treat others with common respect....

Wow... I'm in total awe.  When you said this wasn't like anything you'd ever written before, I didn't expect.  This is... breathtaking.  Seriously.

I've stopped fighting my inner demons... we're on the same side now.

This was great...made me sad though...so many people think they are above other people in life... and in turn say hateful things...its so stupid...

This is a story that is so true, its sad how many people can't understand that by being cruel it makes them weak. This is a really great poem because it really tells a story. I like long poems and story poems personally because i tend to write long pieces. You are one of my favorite writers here even though I'm often not here, each time I come back your poetry stays and its always good
