Relationships are like living things,
They all have their own life spans.
Some will last for eighty years,
Some just a day and a half.

When some relationships come to an end,
The ones that simply don't last,
Two people see the end coming near,
And they just let it come to pass.

But in a select few,
The ones that last for life,
Two people see the end coming,
And one of them stands up to fight.

They fight for the love in their hearts,
And though they may ultimately lose,
That person will know that they went down swinging,
Because it unfortunately takes two.

So if you feel our ground start to shake,
Feel something tearing us apart,
Stand up and fight for us, my love,
Fight for what's in our hearts.

I want you to make me a promise,
Because there's a future out there that I can't see.
Even if it means we're on opposite sides,
Stand up and fight with me.

I've stopped fighting my inner demons... we're on the same side now.
