From String to Stone

As soon as I forgot your face
I realized I have moved on
Now someone else holds
My thoughts ransom all day
Odd, I thought I’d miss
Your words and ways
But, it seems
I’ve found something better

I’m freed from secrecy
I’m free and it feels good
Nothing you could say
Nothing you could do
Will ever bring me back
To our deceptional ways
I’m done with you and
I’m free and it feels good

He may not say he loves me
For that I do not want
But I like him all the more
The slower course to love
I don’t love him yet
Maybe we never will
But there is hope and
There is comfort that keeps me at peace

I was clinging to a string
It cuts my hands to shreds
Now I stand on a stone
Firm and strong perpetually
It’s a feeling that I didn’t know
To be with one that loves what I do

So I will not be divided
Again on such a choice
I’ve found the best thing I’ve ever had
And I won’t go back again

"I have no other but a woman's reason:
I think him so, because I think him so."
