Winded ... jogging the beach
T-shirt sullied front to back
kind of like ...
Jack Frost at recess in the noonday sun
~
Pausing a moment at your approach
huffing and puffing the pristine lakeside air
I gaze rubbernecked
at your breath-robbing stride ...
avoiding surf
while collecting glances
~
Enticing yet demure
a picture
framed with endless sand and crashing surf
~
So captivating ...
your smiling glance triggers the sudden urge
to flip driftwood with my idle foot
~
Sounds of surf
fade
beneath the pulse of my throbbing chest
~
Passing ...
within a smile's length
~
Silence ...
my one line arsenal still at home by the mirror
~
My fading opportunity
swept clean
like the waters erasing your steps
~
The drifting wood
strikes my unguarded ankle
~

I love the beach scene, and the glance per chance.
Trying to catch your breath never read so well.

Wouldn't you know the dog gone driftwood, would trip you up!!

Typical!  (not you, me)
Really enjoyed your light hearted poem.

How many times have we kicked ourselfs for not making or taking that ever important first step.

Been there, done that, and have wondered many, many times what could have been.

Cool poem,
Tracey,
oh, and remember,

The answer is always NO, Until the question is asked.
