A sadness o’er lays the glory of days
and nights become darker than dark
in the knowing that love’s energy
remains confined and restricted
to only the perimeter
of skin, fat, muscle, bone.

It cannot creep in to the mind of men
or into the heart of women
unless its presence is made known
in the most strangest of ways.

It can’t ever be part of the norm
for we’ve made a norm out of ego
and made our beds the same as the rest
in a world devoid of intent
to love in a manner befitting
that attendant energy.

I teeter so on the borders of hate
for this so fickle human state
that hides intelligence in ignorance
and shutters the mind and heart
against the breeze
of the unseen.

Love will always be the unseen
on the perimeter of you and me
for a “he” makes the shutters,
a “she” closes them,
and the norm anointed as king
rules every living “thing”.

So says Peter, Paul, Mary,
and all sentient beings
confined and restricted by “us”
to that unseen perimeter!

Here you come again with your thought provoking philosophical poetry that demands attention with its power. Well done, dear Helen.

Love knows no boundaries or restrictions, it IS. But as you convey, humans don't recognize its presence, because of the power of ego based attitudes. So those who know about the true nature of love, like you, have a moral commitment to make it known.

Love is bountiful blessing, thank you, dear Helen, for writing about it.

Love,
Margherita

Hi Margherita - The "knowing" can be a blessing or a curse but then again all knowing comes with a price.  I do "honour" love and know of its battle to be recognized for what it truly is.  Just doing my bit to help.

Love is a mysterious thing! It comes in many guises ~ and in varying intensities!

Hi, Honey! Sending a warm, kindred hug of love, your way!

You speak what every person who has lost love to facade knows...egotistic perimeters all weather in time, and the well within grows stagnant if we don't keep the currants moving from the inside out. It's a strange place of fire and ice, and you pen the sadness with a beguiling poignancy.  ~KL

Every time I visit I am further impressed with your growth as an artist Helen. And this is saying something as you greatly impressed me the very first time I read you!

Twice read and still
letting your words
enter my edges and
ease upon the threshold

Thank you all so much for your comments - and Eric - Wow!  An artist, you say?  Well I never!  No one, least of all me, would ever have anticipated me being called an artist.  Thank you so very much for that!

"enter my edges and
ease upon the threshold
of consciousness,"

Thank you Bloodline for allowing that.  What more could any "poet" ask?
