It was that first slip
a tight fitting parallel
when I first laid eyes on you
aloof and vague
tall, dark and dangerous
standing under the street lamp.

I saw my reflection in your eyes
and my heart raced to an unfamiliar beat
as the temperature rose to a warm blush
flooring me before I knew what hit me.
Stolen moments
we probably shouldn't have been stealing
while trading secrets that lovers keep.

You poured it on
just two fingers full
and made my head spin
it was so easy to slide across the vinyl
and get comfortable.

There was no distance between us
save for the dizzy dancing rhythm
on those particular summer nights
when the sun hung on for hours
before it went down on us
spilling our secrets on the horizon.

It's one of those mental snap shots
sprinkled with memories under the warmest rain
that first glance
that fades in the sunlight
folded between the fine lines that blur
turning to sepia tones.

I would say your memories are as fresh as morning dew, for you express them so intensely and wonderfully.

Enjoyed the emotions this conveyed, dear Lori!

Love,

Your mental snapshots were conveyed beautifully through this and it was as always pure delight to read you.  So happy to find you posting again.  Some of my favorite lines ---
***********************************************
You poured it on
just two fingers full
***********************************************
My friend Jose' would love that one

********************************************
when the sun hung on for hours
before it went down on us
spilling our secrets on the horizon.
*********************************************
Gotta love those lines

********************************************
that first glance
that fades in the sunlight
folded between the fine lines that blur
turning to sepia tones.
********************************************

Beautiful ending.

Bluesy One, I was totally immersed in this scene. Deliciously so! A moment in time captured in sepia tones to be resavoured from time to time...

Enjoyable 'reading' experience.

Oh, dear Bluesy, how beautifully you express such a rare and wonderful moment.  You have a gift that you use too seldom these days but, being the ever hopeful one, I'm expecting that to change.
