On Wing of Owl
by Linda L. Dowd

I rise at night on wing of owl
into the darkness of Father Sky.
Waxing moon casts light
along my path of flight,
as my soul roams freely
o'er Mother Earth below.

Beautiful, Linda.  You give the us the entire package with your creativity.  You are the entire package, my dear.  Anyway, the poem is wonderful.  You are wonderful.  And, I just feel like gushing this whole day away.  Wanna go out and play?

I read this in the wee hours last night, and felt like a mouse frozen in the shadow beneath the great owl's wings.

A few years ago a small barn owl flew into my headlights as I slowly drove a twisting road around the bay after dark.  It was so stunned, but remained standing on the yellow line of the road after I'd turned around to see the damage done.  I didn't know what to do, but soft yellow light gleamed from a nearby house so I knocked on the door.  As heaven would have it, the man who lived there worked for the Audoubon refuge in Bandon.  We gently put a jacket over the bird and set it inside a box.  He was released back into his own domain a couple of weeks later, hopefully wiser, but no worse for the wear.

I love it when I get to see a miracle of God's heart.

As you know, my dear Dolphina, I love to read your replies. ~ Not only those you write for my poems, but those you write for others, as well. You are eloquence personified.

Happy Spring Saturday, Bill. I agree with you about owls. Unfortunately, there are some people who don't give a 'hoot' about them! (I know, that's a groaner! lol)

I'd love to fly as beautifully and gracefully as your words do Linda.

I am a bit of a night owl myself, and often see them, white as banshees, swooping over the common when I go walking.

I am sooo pleased that you shared that Divine story! It gave me goosebumples! God most-assuredly was working his miracles through two of his REAL Earth Angels ~ you and that Audobon Man!
Oooo! Here come some more goosebumples!....

Love to you, Dear Karen

lol ~ I thought that this one would catch your eye!

'Hoo' would want to read about an owl more than another Owl?!?

~ May your spirit forever fly free!

To quote a line from a movie, "Hoo lovesya, Baby?" ~ I do!

Yo Linda,

Owl's are very silent, expert flyers.  They are sneaky, lovely birds.

Then of course there are the human night Owls, they are great too.

BTW, nice poem and picture.
