When evening's fingers gather in the day
When far is near and dear is very far
I would be close to you though miles away
For in my thoughts you are that shining star
So warm with wonder, bright with love you are
Could I but keep you thus upon the strands
Who does not let this kinship mark nor mar
A faithful love that ever understands
That spirits linger on Iona's sands
Where timeless dreams become our hearts' desire
To walk not talk through lines but to hold hands
Then sit in peace in twilight's waning fire
In harmony that always lets us share
The loving moments that show we do care

"Then sit in peace in twilight's waning fire"
A lovely poem, and a lovely way to end a day.

Some tell me the sonnet is history. Me? I believe it is holds a timeless format; as you so eloquently prove.

This entire poem is exceptionally lovely.

"When evening's fingers gather in the day" ~ What a novel, poetic, and creative way of describing a twilight sky.
