They Flow

they flow like a river
on a mossy bed
bring out the clear
to my muddy head
words calmly soothe me
when the storms rage
I am never lonely
in retrace of their page
there is a voice of many
a soft whisper of one
the world’s string of silence
by them is slowly undone
solid solder joined
to mend the weak parts
and there is more than
a time or two bent my heart
whether in laughter
or the taste of another's tears
the joys in our lives
balanced by our fears
and I shall walk by their river
words my companion as I stroll
eternally the poets flow
the liquid language of our soul

"I'm so hard to handle
I'm selfish and I'm sad."
— Joni Mitchell

Helen, This is beautiful. Yes, writing poetry has always been a calming force in my life too. Better than therapy and cheaper too.

This is so very lovely... The last two lines really are the reason for it all, aren't they? *S*

From one great lady, inspired by another... you both make me grateful for Ron and these blue pages. *S*

Into my library this goes... *S*

You know Helen, there is not a time I go by water flowing that I don't think of JM?  Not once.  She had captured the soul of the flow, and somehow now I feel that flowing through me as I walk by.  I can see her little Keds in my head each time.

You do the Gemini Girls justice.  You are a doll!

This is a very special gift and a gentle rendering of a true poets heart.

That would be you, slick lady.
