The Storm in Edward’s Lullaby

I saw them in the darkness
they hung still just for a moment
then continued chasing each other
streaming down the window like tears
my bones ache me to the marrow
it was if a wind went right through me
outside sounded like a piano lullaby
fingers touching keys up and down
I reached to touch the music myself
trying to retrace a different moment
the prints you had left on my skin
your hands in gentle liquid patter
tapping the soft rhythm of my heart
tenderly you have become my storm
lyrical river drizzling from the clouds

"I'm so hard to handle
I'm selfish and I'm sad."
— Joni Mitchell

love this description... I  often watch raindrops chasing each other until they fall into a shared path...wondering why or how that is. (I am probably interpreting this beautiful poem differently than what is meant)

Okay. I needed to type out my calisthenics before I came to this--I knew, I knew, just by the title it was going to be lush and beautiful...

If a raindrop's dribble down a pane of glass has music, drama, and theatrics, then this is the lyric.

mmmmmmmmmm.....sigh

yer sexy

I wish I were gay

(I gave it the old college try, though)

*laughing*

You always leave me without breath. Beauty in all of your words, and here I thought I knew them all so well.

helen - have you ever listened to the rain dancing on a tin roof during an early spring morning... Gentle, as your writing...
