To those who dwell in gladness,
And know the lights of Life;
To those who wake in dawns
Golden with fulfilment,snd to those
Whose hands are clasped
Close within hands beloved...
I only say:
These lines are not for you...
Pass on,less sorrow
Find your flower-strewn path,
And linger on the way.
But to those many,those bleak of heart,
That dwell among the shadows,
And who know deep tears of loss;
To those whom Desolation
Has chosen for its own,
And who walk in weariness apart,
I say:
Read on...a kindred feeling
Is a spirit hand
Reaching through the darkness
To briefly touch
Your own.

When death
Has stilled my tired heart,
And taken from my faltering hand
The pen with which
I have so vainly strived
To etch in words
The beauties,joys,dreams...
The brooding fears
And soundless sorrows
I have known;
I ask to have placed
Within the hands of her
I loved,
This book of futile
Heart-wrung verse,
To do with as she will...
To read and cherish,
Or to scan
And to forget.
It is all I shall have
Left to give.
