River She

Deeply ponder of me, as if I were the morning
Dampened in rain jewels, quiet strength still dawning
Follow, if you will, pink pedicure along my banks
Dally at the still place in my heart, and peaceful flanks

Know my gentle breezes, the tender rustling that stirs your soul
Waiting barefoot, just outside your secret places, there I stroll
As certain as the flood of moonlight, will our contours silhouette
Dive the deep disclosures, shimmered gold in each sunset

Ponder of my tides and time will seem a flute played sweet
Lapping in the waters of your dreams, as liquid light beneath your feet
As if I were the morning, velvet folds of night will fall away
Then think the thoughts that surface so profoundly, as we sway

Ride the currents of the mystic sounds escaped my mouth
Play within the rapids at my side, that move us both
Wander every niche and bounty; wake me in each morning light
Ponder me as if I was the morning, first and foremost in your sight

Dally at the still place in my heart, and peaceful flanks

And this:
Ponder me as if I was the morning, first and foremost in your sight

Incredible. Who wouldn't ponder you first and foremost TD? They would be crazy not too.

You dress this blue page in finery with these lines:

Lapping in the waters of your dreams, as liquid light beneath your feet
As if I were the morning, velvet folds of night will fall away

Your river as your poetry never flourished, never drained of ink or potency

This is incredibly beautiful.

Every morning (it seems) I stop on my way to work to take pictures of the river.  I love how the sun lights it up and dances on it.  I love the color of the sky and seeing it reflected in the water.  I love the river at dawn more than any time.  I am lucky (usually) to live on one of its sloughs and I can watch it lazily (or rushing if I am not lucky) drift by.

Thank you.

What a soothing treat of a poem this is. Your words were the camera shots as I floated above and along. Shenandoah, playing quietly in the background.(I just  love that song)
