I AM

I am outside and looking in
I wonder if I have what it takes to change
I hear the sound of wind rankle my body
I see my own worst enemy staring back at me
I am outside and looking in

I pretend to be independent and free from others opinions
I feel my lies eating away my stomach
I touch the oak window sill and feel the varnish peeling away
I cry when the loneliness sets in
I am outside and looking in

I understand it’s my fault
I say they wouldn’t let me in
I dream of being loved beyond my pretty face and illusions
I try to fight these old habits of putting myself down
I hope for many things like change
I am outside and looking in

-Juju

Who thinks really deep thoughts
What's so amazing about really deep thoughts " Silent all these Years, Tori Amos

Yo dear Juju,

This poem works good.  I think you're way cool.

A neat perspective.  Yet this sounds more like you're 'inside, feeling'

However, I really enjoyed this piece.

"I dream of being loved beyond my pretty face and illusions"

Or make the best use of them . . .
and be loved.

Juju, I like your poetry and I like seeing a bit more inside you.  You use words really well and write some powerful poem.  This is one.

Juju, you are beautiful inside and out and you probably have more who think that and love you than you know or can see.
